Yesterday? It flat-out sucked.
I pulled a couple of outfits from my closet, and… nope. Nothing fit the way it used to. Then, because I apparently wanted to really pile it on, I stepped on the scale. Let’s just say the number staring back at me was not a happy surprise.
This morning, I woke up with two choices:
- Keep spiraling in the frustration.
- Do one thing to feel better.
I went with option #2.

I laced up my sneakers, strapped on my weighted vest for a little extra push, and headed out for the 3-mile walk I’ve been saying I’d take “tomorrow” for weeks.
And here’s the thing — I didn’t just get moving. I put in my earbuds and listened to a podcast episode that hit me right between the eyes in the best way. It reminded me that sometimes all it takes is the right message at the right time to shake you out of a rut.
Lately, I’ve been stuck in what I’m calling my Negative Trifecta:
- A tough season of loss.
- Foot surgery recovery that sidelined me.
- Menopause kicking in full force.
Any one of those is enough to mess with your mindset. All three? It’s been a recipe for feeling “off” in every way.
But after that walk this morning, I decided it’s time to swap that out for a Positive Trifecta instead:
- Movement every day — even if it’s just a walk.
- Healthier choices — not a crash diet, just little swaps that feel good.
- Daily inspiration — a podcast, a good book, or a conversation that lifts me up.
It’s simple, but it’s something I can actually stick to. And I’m sharing it here because maybe you’ve got your own version of a Negative Trifecta that’s been dragging you down. You don’t have to fix it all at once. You just need one small, positive step forward… then another… and another.
So here’s my plan: I’m leaving the Negative Trifecta behind me and moving forward with this new focus. I’ll keep sharing what’s helping me here, and maybe it’ll spark something for you too.
Your turn — what’s one thing you can do today to nudge yourself toward your own Positive Trifecta?
