We Will Never Forget

Today marks 24 years since September 11, 2001.

I was working in downtown New York that morning with my husband. The memories are still so vivid—the shock, the smoke that lingered in the air for weeks, the fear and confusion as we tried to find one another. Those hours and days felt indescribable, and the images and emotions are etched in my mind and heart forever.

But this day is about the thousands of innocent lives lost, the families who still carry the weight of that loss, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the resilience of a city and a nation forever changed.

Almost 15 years ago, on September 11th, I dressed my boys in red, white, and blue before they headed off to school. They weren’t yet born when the attacks happened, but my husband and I have always taught them about that day—the lives lost, the first responders who gave everything, and why it is so important to remember.

Even now, I make sure they never forget. Passing this memory on matters.

Today, I pause to remember. To honor. To never forget.
