Magnesium & Morgan Wallen: My Midlife Trifecta & Simple Habits That Work

Last night I took magnesium for my bones. This Friday I’m taking Morgan Wallen for my soul. 😂

Honestly, both are part of my midlife health plan.

The Magnesium Side of Things

I started adding magnesium because, like a lot of women in our 50s, bone health has moved up on my priority list (hello, osteopenia). Add in the fact that I’m back to strength training 3–4 days a week with long walks in between, and I’m working muscles that haven’t been this sore in awhile.

Magnesium is supposed to help with bone strength, muscle recovery, sleep, mood—you name it. So, in typical Lynn fashion, I went all in: full scoop, 450 mg. And let’s just say…I spent the night feeling like a hot-air balloon. Not the glamorous effect I was going for.

Lesson learned: more isn’t always better. Sometimes half a scoop and consistency beats “max dose, regret later.”

The Morgan Wallen Side of Things

Now let’s talk about my other supplement: Morgan Wallen. I know…😂

Okay, not technically a supplement—but for me, this concert I’ve been waiting for since January is the ultimate mood booster. Friday night, I’ll be screaming lyrics and feeling like a teenager again.

Maybe that’s the point. Magnesium helps my muscles recover from workouts, but Morgan? He helps me recover from life. He brings joy, energy, and a reminder that I’m still alive, still fun, and still a little bit crazy.

I hope everyone has their own“Morgan Wallen,” because for me, a good car concert 🎤 does a world of good!

My Positive Trifecta

So where does this leave me? Somewhere between supplements and stadium concerts. Between bone density and belting out “Last Night…”

Here’s what I’ve landed on—my Positive Trifecta:

  1. Black coffee – My morning ritual, simple and grounding.
  2. Movement every day – Strength training, walks, whatever keeps me moving forward.
  3. Daily inspiration – Something that lifts me up: a podcast, a book, a song (Morgan on repeat for months on end—much to my family’s dismay😅).

Everything else—supplements, trends, hacks—has to fit around that trifecta, not run my life. There is way too much information out there, it’s confusing. So, what makes ME feel good, is where it’s at.

The 4 Pillars of Health (Dr. Chatterjee Style)

During my walk today, I was listening to Mel Robbins interview Dr. Rangan Chatterjee. He explained health in four simple pillars: Food, Movement, Sleep, and Relaxation.

It hit me: these pillars are just the bigger version of my trifecta.

I don’t have all my goals checked off. I haven’t “arrived.” But since sticking to my trifecta, I feel better. That’s the shift. Confidence comes not from being perfect, but from small daily wins.

One takeaway I loved? Eating more 1-ingredient foods. Simple. Real. Doable. And if I make that change, I’m not just helping myself—I’m helping my family too.

The Real Lesson

So here’s where I’ve landed:

  • Magnesium for my bones.
  • Morgan Wallen for my soul. 🎤
  • 1-ingredient foods for my fuel.
  • And my trifecta to keep me grounded.

Midlife wellness doesn’t have to be complicated or overwhelming. It’s about simple, repeatable habits that actually make you feel better. And the better you feel, the more you want to keep going.

So yes, magnesium might help my body. But Morgan? He helps me dance like I’m 20 again. And maybe that’s the secret: build your own mix of what keeps you strong and what makes you feel alive.

At the end of the day, I’ve learned that midlife health doesn’t have to be about chasing every new supplement or trend. For me, it’s half a scoop of magnesium when my body needs it, a Morgan Wallen car concert when my spirit does, and my trifecta of simple daily habits that keep me feeling good and accountable. None of it is complicated, but all of it adds up. My hope is that you find your own version of this—whatever habits, rituals, or music make you feel stronger, lighter, and more alive. Because midlife isn’t about slowing down. It’s about finding what keeps you going.

What’s your version of Magnesium & Morgan? ❤️
