Every year, the holidays seem to sneak up on me. One minute I’m putting out my fall flowers, and the next I’m knee-deep in wrapping paper, shopping lists, and travel plans. Don’t get me wrong — I love this season. But I’ll be honest, it can also feel overwhelming when everything piles up at once.
This year, I’m making a few small moves now so I can feel festive instead of frantic when December rolls around.
Simple Holiday Prep Ideas That Help
- Gift Wrap Storage Box (under the bed): Out of sight, out of mind — but easy to pull out when you’re ready. It keeps wrapping rolls neat instead of crushed or scattered in a closet.
- Ornament Storage Box: Protects fragile keepsakes and makes decorating less of a headache. I love opening a bin and seeing everything ready to go, instead of unwrapping a tangled mess.
- Drawstring Gift Bags: My new favorite shortcut. Pop the gift in, pull the ribbon, and you’re done. Pretty, fast, and no bows required.
- Mom’s Wrapping Station Idea: My mom taught me this years ago, and I’ve never forgotten it — use an ironing board as your wrapping station. You can stand or sit, adjust the height, and save your back. Honestly, it’s genius if you don’t have a dedicated spot for wrapping and you can move it from room to room easily.
- Music—always music in the background: Music is an essential in the backdrop of my life—especially throughout the holidays. If you are like me, and always have it playing in the background, this is how I am listening to it. It sounds amazing (like a high end stereo system) and I can bring it wherever I go. It’s a splurge, but worth it. Maybe put it on your wish list this year. 😉
