Summer Style & Sanity Savers for the Days You Just Don’t Feel Like Yourself

I’ve been feeling a little off lately.
The kind of off where your body’s shifting, your clothes aren’t fitting quite right, and your mood is somewhere between “How am I 51 years old and why do I not feel like myself?”, “I should write” and “I should just go hide.”

But even in the middle of that… I’ve found a few things that are saving me this week.

Not miracle cures.
Not magic fixes.

Just real-life joys that remind me—this season is still mine to live.

🧡 What’s Saving Me This Week:

1. Comfortable Dresses & Tanks That Get Me

I ordered a few new pieces from Amazon this week, hoping something would help me feel like myself again.

And you know what? Two of them delivered.

  • This empire waist dress with pockets? Let’s just say: belly bloat? Managed.
It’s flattering, comfy, lightweight, and I’m already going back to order it in more colors.
  • And this high-neck tank with colorful trim is cute, non-clingy, and makes me feel put together without trying. It comes in so many fun colors.

When something fits you right and is comfortable, it’s amazing what that can do for your confidence and overall mood. These are the kind of easy wins that honestly make getting dressed feel a little less emotionally loaded.

2. Yoga Pants & Pull-On Shorts (aka my emotional support wardrobe)

Some days I just can’t with jeans.
These are my soft go-tos that let me breathe—literally and emotionally.
Perfect with that tank above, or a loose tee when I’m in full “leave me alone” mode.

3. Mid-Day Squares

Yes, I snack.
Yes, it’s usually chocolate.
But these little squares make me feel a little better about it—plus they actually satisfy me.

4. My New Bug Zapper Racket

I’ve been trying to stick to my walks, even with the bug apocalypse happening in the Adirondack humidity.

Let me just say… this racket is powerful.
Satisfying, hilarious, and weirdly therapeutic.

Also, it makes me feel like I’m taking my revenge on last week’s mosquito ambush. 😂

5. A Book That Feels Like Summer

I started reading The Summer I Turned Pretty (plus the whole series), and I swear I could smell lake water and sunscreen from page one. This series takes place at the ocean, but still…

If you grew up near a lake or any beach—or just love a nostalgic summer read that takes you back—this is the one.

And I will always recommend this book that opened my eyes and changed my life for the better in so many ways:

Oh—and if you’re in the mood for even more summer joy, I shared a few of my favorite fun + feel-good finds in my post called Real Life. Real Joy. Real Purpose.
Think beachy reads, easy accessories, and other little things making this season feel like mine. ☀️

💛 Wrapping It Up…

No, none of these things are life-changing.
But this week? They brought me back to myself.
Even just a little.

If you’re feeling off too—mentally, emotionally, hormonally—I hope something here meets you where you are…
And nudges you gently back to joy.

Just a heads-up: This post includes a few affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission if you choose to purchase through them—at no extra cost to you. I only share things I truly love and use myself. Thanks for supporting the little joys around here!
