The seasons are changing, and I feel it in more ways than one.
The leaves outside my window are turning those beautiful shades I love. The air is crisp. Everything looks like a fresh start.

And yet… there’s also a quiet feeling that comes with it.
Summer has passed. My boys are back at college. The house feels different.
I’m proud of them. I really am.
But I miss them.
And when I let my mind wander, it’s not just this season I feel—it’s the weight of other changes too. The people I’ve lost. The way time keeps moving, whether I’m ready or not.
Maybe you know that feeling.
The mix of gratitude and sadness.
The way one season can hold both.
When Everything Feels Like It’s Shifting
There’s a moment in midlife where things don’t fall apart…
but they do change.
Your role shifts.
Your routine shifts.
Even your identity can feel a little… uncertain.
And it’s easy to let that turn into:
“What now?”
“Who am I in this season?”
I’ve felt that more than I expected.
What I’m Coming Back To Right Now
Lately, I’ve been asking myself a simple question:
How do I move through this season with more joy than heaviness?
Not fake positivity.
Not ignoring the hard parts.
Just a little more light in the everyday.
For me, one thing that’s helping is coming back to what I call my Feel-Better Trifecta:
- one small intentional choice
- some kind of movement
- a moment of inspiration
It’s not complicated.
But it gives me a place to reset when the day (or my thoughts) start to drift.
A Small Shift That’s Making a Difference
But I’ve realized something else lately.
It’s not just about doing those three things.
It’s about noticing what’s still good while everything is changing.
The crisp air.
The quiet mornings.
A walk outside when the leaves are at their peak.
Nothing big.
But enough to remind me that joy doesn’t disappear in new seasons—it just looks different.
If You’re in a Season Like This Too
If you’re finding yourself in a similar place,
missing what was, while trying to figure out what’s next…
you’re not alone.
You don’t need to have it all figured out.
You just need a small place to begin again.

Change doesn’t always feel exciting.
Sometimes it just feels quiet.
But I’m learning that even in seasons like this,
there are still small ways to move forward.
And that’s enough.
